On January 14, 1998, WMAQ Channel 5 showed a photo of a missing person by the name of Joanna Lopez the photo was of poor quality, and very hard to make out any features of the woman. The photo also had a phone number attached the phone number belonged to the Chicago police. Joanna Lopez’s photo would be aired again in 1991 with the same photo and phone number but no other Information. For the next 33 years, there have been no new leads. But that hasn’t stopped internet sleuths from coming up with theories of who Joanna was what could have possibly happened to her and if she was even a real person. Her photo would go viral on social media and many youtbers like LazyMasquerade, Nexpo and Blameitonjorge would make vidoes on Joanna. A Subreddit was also created to keep Joanna’s case alive along with their on therioes and the hopefulness on trying to identify Joanna.

Theory 1 :Joanna Lopez was a runaway

The exact number isn’t known but many kids in the Chicago area were away during the 80s. People believe that Joanna may have been one of them. Her parents asked WMAQ to air their daughter’s photo to help contact her or if anyone saw her to call the Chicago police. She was found later returned but she ran away again so her parents contacted WMAQ Channel 5 and they aired her photo again in 1991.
