Three Mass Shootings in One Week: Nevada, New York, and Montana
On July 28, a shooting occurred at the Grand Sierra Resort in Nevada. A gunman opened fire at the main entrance of the casino, causing chaos as guests fled in panic. Glass doors shattered, and calls flooded into 911. Police arrived within three minutes and detained the gunman. Three people were injured and rushed to the hospital — two with severe injuries. One person was grazed by a bullet on their pinky finger, another was treated for severe anxiety, and a third was hurt while trying to escape the gunfire. Tragically, three others were killed in the shooting.
Authorities revealed that the shooting began around 7:30 a.m. The gunman initially pointed his firearm at a group of people, but the weapon malfunctioned. After quickly fixing it, he opened fire. The shooter fled through the parking lot, where he encountered an armed casino security guard. When he pointed his gun at the guard, the guard returned fire. The gunman then shot and killed a driver in the parking lot before opening fire on arriving police, striking a patrol vehicle. Officers returned fire, injuring the gunman. His condition has not been publicly released. One officer was also injured, though only by glass fragments.
